The 1956 Topps Davy Crockett cards were based on the very popular Walt Disney movie Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier! These cards were issued in two different series. Both sets have 80 cards. Series 1 cards have the orange backs and the series 2 cards have green backs. The series 2 green back cards were issued later and in much lesser quantities. The green back cards have "A" after the card number. The fronts have color photos and the backs have descriptive text. The cards measure 2-1/2" by 3-5/8". There are three different types of the orange back series 1 cards. The most common orange backs have gray stock borders. There are also orange back cards that have white or tan stock borders. Finally there are bright flourescent orange backs printed in a bright white background which are the most difficult to find.
