T38 The Aviators This 25 card set was issued in 1911 by The American Tobacco Co. with United Cigar Stores Co. and Tokio and Mezzin Cigarettes brand backs. The backs come either with gold background and black ink (united Cigar Stores Co. or with the tougher white backs and black ink. (Tokio and Mezzin) Cards measured 2-1/2" x 2-7/8" and were colorful images of early aviators including the Wright Brothers and Glenn H. Curtiss. We have split the database for these cards into two catagories. One for the Tokio and Mezzin, and the other for the United Cigar Stores Co. There are a couple cards with name variations that differ from the gold backs and the white backs and most notably there are four cards that have an Aviators Bio that does not match the image on the front. The errors all appear to occur on the backs of the Tokio and Mezzin cards, and as of the writing of this in November 2023, we have almost all of them in stock now.
